The Speaker as Art – The Monitor Audio SoundFrame

These Architectural Speakers Pack Great Sound with a Twist

The Speaker as Art – The Monitor Audio SoundFrame

Some people love great sound, but they don't love the intrusion of high-fidelity speakers in their décor, no matter how well-designed and finished. You could say that a long time ago, if you decided on architectural speakers for a demure look to your sound, you would give up something in the audio quality department. Today, you can throw that notion out the window.

Today’s choices in architectural speakers are vast. Virtually every high-fidelity speaker maker has an architectural line voiced and engineered on par with their freestanding models. One of our favorite speaker brands is Monitor Audio. We've raved about their Controlled Performance Series, which is ideal for listening rooms or surround sound where speaker visibility is banned.

In this blog, we'd like to introduce you to a different type of Monitor Audio speaker – the SoundFrame. The SoundFrame is a high-performance speaker that can almost hide in plain sight in your Kennesaw or Atlanta, GA, listening or media room. Learn more about it below!

On-Wall or In-Wall?

Many media rooms and home theaters use wall-mounted vs. in-wall speakers. The reasons can be manifold, but some wall materials are hard to cut into, or there may not be the depth necessary to install fully in the wall. The SoundFrame can be installed on or in the wall. The slender 3.5-inch depth makes it easy to install either way. For installation ease, the speaker wire hides in the wall, enters the back of the speaker, and connects in the front.

Two-Channel or Surround?

SoundFrame speakers are suitable for any audio application. The SoundFrame 1 packs a 6.5-inch C-CAM bass driver (like the ones used in Monitor Audio freestanding models) and a pivoting 4-inch midrange/1-inch tweeter combo. It can be used as any speaker, left, center, right, or surround. But Monitor Audio makes some complementary models that are suitable multipurpose. The SoundFrame 2 also features a 3-way design with a longer form factor for use as a center channel under a display or as left and right speakers vertically mounted to flank a larger display. The SoundFrame 3 is a smaller 2-way speaker ideal for surround use or in smaller spaces for whole-home audio.

What’s Your Look?

The SoundFrame is an excellent fit for modern décor with its available high gloss white and black frames. For an on-wall installation that calls less attention to itself, the frames can be omitted for a sleeker look. But this is where it gets more interesting. The SoundFrame grills can be customized with a choice of images and colors from Monitor Audio’s library to make your speaker look like wall art. You can also go full custom with your own high-resolution images. Make your speakers custom family portraits, favorite places, or whatever else strikes your fancy. No matter what look you select, you’re going to experience Monitor Audio’s balanced, neutral, and full sound for your music, movies, and media.

If the SoundFrame isn’t what you’re looking for, Monitor Audio has a full range of freestanding and architectural high-fidelity speakers. To learn more, contact us here or click the chat box below to quickly connect with one of our home audio experts. We look forward to working with you!
