Focal and Naim: Celebrating 10 Years of Exceptional Audio Performance

Focal is an audio company that marches to its own tune (pun intended). The 40-year-old Saint Étienne, France-based company carries an influence in the audio world that goes far beyond the company’s size. First, most of their products are built in France in an era where audio equipment is usually designed in one country but manufactured in the far east. They also develop their own machines for manufacturing and handbuild 80% of the cones for their speakers. 

Ten years ago, Focal joined forces with Naim, a British boutique audio brand known for its excellence in audio engineering. To celebrate this “tin” anniversary, they’ve put together a Focal home speaker system powered by Naim components featuring a unique style. A Unique Finish

The Speakers

The Sopra N°2 speakers were chosen for this special edition for their relatively compact size and high performance. They feature two 7-inch woofers for controlled, tight bass down to 34Hz, the innovative infinite horn loading Beryllium tweeter for maximum treble performance, and the Tuned Mass Damper technology for undistorted midrange sound. All of the unique features and engineering Focal applies to these custom drivers point to the company’s obsession with every detail that affects the sound. 

The Naim Components

Harmonizing with the tin look of the speakers, the perfectly matched Naim components are the heart of the system. It starts with the NAC 282 stereo preamplifier with independent power supplies for the digital and analog internals. The NDX 2 network player offers all the sources you could need, with built-in streaming from Spotify Connect, Airplay, Chromecast, aptX HD Bluetooth, Tidal, and more. With additional digital and USB inputs, you can connect virtually any digital source component. Finally, the NAP 250 power amplifier delivers 80 watts/channel of clean, high-current power to make the Focal Sopra N°2s sing in your space.
